New Core i5 and Core i7 Macbooks Due in April (Rumor)

New reports indicate that Apple is busier than expected this month. The iPad launched on April 3rd, there’s a big iPhone 4.0 event on April 8th and new reports from Taiwan indicate that we will likely see a refresh of the Macbook, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air in April — possibly as soon as next week.

While there have been rumors that new Macbooks would arrive “next week” for the past month or two, this new rumor may be on the money. It has already been one of the longest waits for a Macbook Pro refresh, and while we normally would have written off any updates until June; it is plausible that Apple would introduce new Macbooks this month.

It is very likely that a Macbook refresh would include the following upgrades and updates:

  • Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors.
  • Nvidia Optimus Technology for intelligent graphic switching.
  • Hard drive increases (up to 640GB) and SSD options (up to 248GB).
  • An additional hour of battery life; for a total of 8 hours.

No one really knows if we will see an appearance change on any of the Macbook lines, and it is a little early for Macbook upgrade, but a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air refresh is long overdue. Many customers, myself included have been waiting on a Macbook Pro refresh before buying a new computer.
