Windows 7 Launch Date Set: October 22, 2009
Microsoft’s confirmed the launch date of Windows 7. Retailers will begin selling copies of the new operating systems on October 22. The company also confirmed that it will offer free or discounted copies of Windows 7 to customers who purchase notebooks with Windows Vista, but details haven’t been announced.
In an interview with CNET reporter Ina Fried, HP CTO Phil Mckinney sounded pretty confident about Windows 7, calling Windows 7 “stellar.”
The release date is just in time for the 2009 Holiday season. Windows 7 Release Candidate is currently available for download and can be used until next summer free of charge.
