Nokia N97 Demo (video)

The N97 is the most impressive phone from Nokia I’ve ever laid eyes on. Daniel Arroyo gave me a demo of the N97 at the Web 2.0 conference last week.

The N97 comes with a ton of features that I wish my iPhone had, including a digital compass and Flash video support. It has a QWERTY keyboard that’s very easy to slide out. It comes with 32GB of memory and if that’s not enough you can add another 16GB thanks to a microSD expansion slot. The 5MP camera has a Carl Zeiss lens, which means you’ll get significantly better images than what you expect from a camera phone.

The N97 can be loaded with widgets that are available via Nokia’s ovi store. I really liked the Facebook widget, which shows you a previews of updates and messages without launching the application.

Here’s a quick video of the N97:

Dos, I should say the same... lets go mad!!!!

Chris, yes, they do have a SDK, but as a matter of fact, develop for Symbian is yet a hard bone to chew.

    N97, come please!!!
  • @Rony

Ah k, I had a feeling they did.

I cannot wait for this phone. Been following since the rumours stage back last november. haha! Saying that though, if i see another video demonstrating the way u can re-arrange the screen items ill go mad!
  • I've always liked Nokia and the N97 does look nice, the only thing that I dislike is the amount of GOOD applications available for Symbian. Sure, there are many great games, but other applications seem poor.

I do like how the applications that come with it are rich and also advanced in customisation, but I'm just not totally sold on it.

I really like the new home screen and the compass is a great idea. I hope to see Nokia release an SDK for Symbian (have they yet?) because then it'd probably not be too bad, they should also have an animation engine in it.

Anyway, just my thoughts. I think Symbian still has a chance to stay on top, it's just a matter of which path they decide to take.
