I would use this to replace the desktop that I now have. It is 3years old or so. I have always wanted something portable. I would love to own a notebook. I could just pick it up and take it from room to room. I could take it where ever I went. That would be so awesome. I do alot of twittering and wouldn't have to miss if I had to go somewhere else.
  • My beloved laptop died (R.I.P old friend) and as a blogger I absolutely need portability. I cannot be chained to a desktop anymore. This will be my lifeline so to say *primary* would probably be an understatement. I'll definitely be keeping it for myself. I attend a lot of events and a netbook would fit into my regular handbag. This way when I'm riding the subway or bus, I wouldn't have to have a laptop bag or a messenger bag and just scream 'target'. I am following you on Twitter and have sent out a tweet, here is the link to my tweet: http://twitter.com/Tracy_Iglesias/status/758564...
Me and my blog, Ascending Butterfly would definitely thank you big time if I win!

To Whom It May Concern: I am a member of a computer system support group for a technical publications department that produces thousands of manuals every year.

Although this would be used for my own personal use, I would still be using it to “remote in” to my work PC as necessary to get projects done “on time and within budget” just like management likes.

I do a good deal of research on the web for different software programs that I can use either for work or for our church. This would definetly be my “travel PC" for while I’m on the go.

I wish all the other contestants luck with winning the laptop too.

    Respectfully

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Netbook would be the ideal device to run Back|Track 3 operating system as a dual boot with Windows and I could then use it for my penetration testing activities plus have a reasonably powerful and mobile Windows workstation.

It is powerful enough to run all my daily applications such as email, word processing and Internet research with a nice large disk for storage and allow me to carry out more specialised activities. So I would elect to use it as my primary machine freeing up my laptop to be used by my wife and daughter.
  • Thank you for entering this giveaway. The S10 winner's neem announced, but stay tuned for another IdeaPad S10 giveaway.
  • Wesley
I think this netbook would be my primary computer. I, being VERY short-stature, have very small hands. And from what I hear, this computer is good for peepz my age (14). That's from what I hear though. Please give it to me!!! :D
  • Mahmoud Hammoudeh
My brother will use it a primary computer
  • Booji
The idea pad will be used by myself and fellow interns, residents, and medical students as a portable system to access and view electronic medical records at the patient's bedside. This will certainly increase teh quality of care that we provide to our patients.
  • bhd
I am looking to get a netbook my wife as an internet appliance for recipes, cooking-related websites, and secondarily for around the house browsing.

There is a growing space out there, but I love Lenovo (writing this on my x60t).
  • ChrisRS
This wpiuld be my wifes primary computer. WOrd, email, manage schedule for four kids.
  • Ed
This will be my primary mobile machine seeing that I sold my other laptop last week.
  • techiefan77
I would use this as my secondary computer as I have a HP desktop PC. This would also be great to replace my 6 year old 16" Sony laptop that weighs a ton when traveling.
  • I would use if as a primary home computer and would remote into my desktop for programming since I have yet to find a Tablet with enough horsepower to be a primary coding box.
  • Derrill
Like many others have said, a secondary computer. I've been wanting a netbook for a couch surfing machine, but also to load up Miro on, be great to take out and about and catch up on podcasts and stuff.
  • Naomi Caneda
I would use this as a secondary computer, its small size is great for when you have just some light work to do on the computer or internet =).
  • G.Smith
I would use this as a secondary computer after upgrading the ram and hard drive. It would be great to have when visiting friends and family members.
  • Harry
I would use is as a secondary PC for work while away from my desk. Hope I win and thanks for a chance.
  • This netbook will serve as my secondary PC i.e. browsing the web and internet chats. I don't anticipate needing any extra accessories other than extra memory. I'll refrain from installing desktop apps and will use the netbook as my continuing foray into using web applications like Google Docs, etc.
  • alberto
    i'm using a Core2 system with windows 7 beta ( very nice os ..)
i plan to use IdeaPad S10 as a mobility computer for out of home computing and probably in bed reading :)

    bye
  • I am using a p3 system. I shall use the ideapad for my classroom and seminar presentations. I do not have the resources to invest in a new laptop. The college lcd projector will work fine with this ideapad.
  • MiKeN
I plan on using the Lenovo S10 as a secondary computer to accompany me when I leave the house and to work around the house and not be tied to my desk.
  • Michelle
I would probably give this to my daughter for her school work.
  • Tom
I would most likely use this as my secondary computer, for when I am on the road.
  • I would use it as a secondary computer or give it to my daughter at college in NYC to use as a secondary computer for class.
  • This would definitely be my primary computer. Thanks so much for the chance!
  • M@rc
I would give it to my brother who's going to University next year. The S10 would be his primary computer.
  • Gilson Oguime
At home it would be my primary computer. Found out that a small netbook is just perfect to check e-mail and websites in the confort of my couch.
  • Bruce Campbell
This will be a secondary computer for me, but I plan to carry it on a month-long research trip, during which it will be my primary computer.

I am a heavy writer, so, depending on the keyboard experience, I may need to add a Lenovo UltraNav travel keyboard, which has an integrated trackpoint.
  • I love mobile computing and my work has me at four sites - engineering building, research center, and two manufacturing plants. Sometimes I need more than a PDA but less than my full laptop. This baby would be perfect!
  • Steve
It really depends on how you define a 'primary' computer.

While most of the chart-making and spreadsheet effort will be produced on my desktop I'll be spending the majority of my time on the road, showing the presentations, keeping in contact with the rest of my world and keeping the presentation files updated.
  • Jim O'Shea
    Primary mobile computer.
  • Amitai Rosenberg
    Hi!
I think it depends on how much I like the Lenovo S10. So I'm not sure if it'll be primary or secondary. For now, I'd say secondary.
  • I definitely don't wanna lose my PHP and my music files .
  • Paul Gillespie
Comment on this Notebooks.com article and tell us if which file you’d be most disappointed to lose.

Easy answer: the presentation I put together for my mother's funeral. As you can imagine I back it up about a dozen different places, including multiple machines, multiple optical media, and on-line backup. But would never hurt to have it on a 160GB portable drive... :)
  • Paul Gillespie
I would have to give this to a friend of mine. She's actually got a laptop, but it's been freaking out on her and has not only got a bad battery but also has a bad connector...so a good battery wouldn't recharge anyway.

So it would be her primary, I suspect.
  • Howard
I have a desktop computer already, so this will serve as my secondary computer, which I'd bring to school.
  • Arlene
I would most likely use it as a secondary computer, one that I would use to take to school!
  • JwY
My parents would use it as their primary computer to show photos!
  • Cathy
It will be my primary computer!
  • Carlos
I would probably use it as my primary computer; the battery on my current machine does not hold much of a charge.
  • Heather
I'm not sure if I did the twitter part right, but here is the link. My id is Heatwave316

    http://twitter.com/Heatwave316/status/1358044331
  • We got it. Thank you.
  • Linzchav
This would become my primary computer because the battery on my HP has fizzled out. I desperately need a new computer.
  • tod
I would use it for myself. Plain and simple. Sorry. Netbook is too nifty to share
  • Daniel Barton
My wife is studying for her MBA and is yearning to have one of these for note taking and working with her group. This will be her secondary computer with the desktop at the house. She’ll be very happy if she wins!

    Daniel
  • Shan Gee
I already have a notebook so I would give this computer to my sister as a primary computer since her Sony Vaio notebook battery recently died. It would be great for her online college work.
  • Mr. Z
I would use this device as a SECONDARY COMPUTER, mostly for travel purposes and "light, on-the-go" computing.

I'd probably keep it for myself at first, but then eventually give it to my 8-year old niece after a while. She'd be pretty stoked about that.
  • Kere
i would use this netbook for programming for my computer science projects
  • Dave Wells
If I was lucky enough to win this fantastic prize I would use it as a secondary pc initially but that might change because I'm sure I could get used to faster boot times that can be achieved by applications so far only available for netbooks. I bought my first pc last year after previously owning a Commodore Amiga and an Atari STE 17 years prior, it is great to step into the 21st century but I am finding 150+ second boot times for Vista very tedious (seems slightly slower after installing SP2 RC!). Thanks.
  • Todd
I'd use it as a couch computer so I didn't have to sit at the desk so much. Oh, also to take to coffee shops and look cool....
  • Morgan Creelman
I'd be using it as my secondary, as i have a tower i built recently as the main powerhouse... i use that for gaming and photoshop. the lenovo would be for if i was traveling or just generally away from the desktop. i would also use it for college, taking notes is so much easier on a laptop than writing with a pen.
  • Mithinco
I would use the netbook for my classes and as a secondary computer.
  • Nick
I am entering for my wife. She is pregnant and have a rough time during the first few month. I caan't afford to get her one, and this is an opportunity to do so. We find that a Netbook is much easier to carry around everyday than a traditional laptop.
  • JD_Denver
I'd use this for myself, as a secondary computer. Primarily I would use it to take minutes for various nonprofit Boards I'm on.
  • Brian S
I would send it to my friend that has lost almost everything this last year. He hasn’t been able to get a computer, not to mention anything else. He’s watching an old 15″ tube tv, and is trying to get his life back together. I think he would enjoy the S10 and would help him connect to friends and family again.
  • Marc
I would give it a good friend since his family have consistently been fighting over who can use the computer. They have a mac and notebook. It's almost becoming as if each person needs their own personal computer these days.
  • jeff
Would love a MID for easier mobility -- if I can afford the 3G contract :)
  • Dennis
It would be primary for my 9 year old grandson. His mother is disabled and cannot afford to get a computer for him. He has a talent for things electronic and it would benefit his sister 5 as well.
  • I would keep it for myself (let the kids have the crappy desktop LOL) and use primarily for surfing/blogging.
  • Aaron
I would use it as a secondary computer to use mainly for email and word processing.
  • Definitely would keep it for myself as a secondary computer. I'm thinking about replacing my older larger 15 inch Dell laptop as my travel companion. I already have an Asus Eee PC 900, but the Lenovo has a larger screen and a little more overall ooomph - it might do the trick.
  • ConvertingMe
I would probably keep the lenovo for myself as a primary and give my aging Toshiba Sat to my 16 yo stepson or my husband who doesn't have a notebook at all.
  • Asia
This would be a secondary computer, I have a 15 inch hp but it is way too heavy to lug around campus all day. I looked for an inexpensive, light notebook in 2006 but culdn't find one so I ended up buying the hp.
  • NeoteriX
My girlfriend (who I'd give this to) would definitely use this as a second computer!
  • I will have to be greedy and say this would be for me and it would be my primary computer, I can pass my desktop on to my son. Thanks for the chance to win :)
  • Leo
secondary, to be use mainly on the road and as IM and notepad device when using my primary.
  • If I were lucky enough to win, I'd gift this to my teen daughters to share. I have an old desktop that's buckling under pressure and DH has a newer HP Pavillion dv7 for work. My girls are great and do well in school, and this would help them with school work and of course social/music endeavors. Thanks for the entry!
  • Michael Venini
The IdeaPad would be a secondary computer for me, or it would go to a friend who needs a computer now.
  • I'd use this as a tertiary computer actually since I have a desktop and a laptop. But this would be my computer for blog conferences and such.
  • I will use the S10 as a secondary computer...but probably it'll become my primary since I don't use my Mac all too much for any specialized tasks anyway.
  • I would give it to my wife to use as her Primary Computer
  • Heather
Honestly, this would be computer 1A. I do have a desktop at home, but I find myself always on the go. So, somthing light would be great for travel to keep up with e-mail and the web. Plus, with the weather warming, I'd love to be able to sit outside while my pups run in the yard. I've been craving on of these forever!!!
  • Dave
I've been looking at buying one of these, it'd be a great replacement for my ibm r40!

It would tie me over as a primary computer until I was out of university. Since I quit work to go back to school as a mature student, I've really felt the loss of new-gadgets in my life :(
  • Jason
With a few interface tweaks to optimize screen real estate and navigation optimization tweaks (Launchy and VirtuaWin) this S10 will definitely be useable as a primary machine.
  • If I would be lucky enough to win this, I'd use this as my secondary computer. I'm a proud Tablet PC owner, but in terms of mobility and portability, netbooks are for the most part a better option. Since the nature of my work has me going all over the country, having the S10 would be a wonderful luxury. :)
  • rui
    HI!!!!
wow, i would definitly use it as my main computer, the computer i am using it know is form 2001, so i got used to old computers, i´ve been chosen the software to match that pc , and funny is that old softwares became my fav. softwares and can´t live without it now, so what the idepad would bring to me is mobility , i could do what i do anywhere!!!
  • If I were to win I would give this to my wife. Her laptop recently died, and although I have one, it is not easy sharing with a geek.

Plus she deserves her own, not to mention it was just her birthday.
  • hamburgers
I would use the s10 as a secondary computer. I have a 15.4" laptop already, but it is very much a hassle to carry to/from university due to it's bulk and as such usually ends up just staying on my desk at home unless i really need it. Being able to carry something so small and light around with me in my backpack just whenever seems like an awesome convenience!
  • Kiernan
It'd probably be my primary computer until I get a tablet. Mainly because it'd be less of a pain, power-cord-wise (my current laptop will only charge when the power cord is in a certain position). Or unless I am very much enthralled. At which point it'd stay primary.
  • Curtis Myers
Well, having just bought a HP 1035, this would be great for my mother. Her old Inspiron decided it did not need a motherboard anymore.
  • Ivan
I would use it as primary too. I love S10 ever since I played with one at Fryes. The best netbook out there
  • Matt Werner
I'd have my pregnant wife use it as a secondary computer. I have an X61 from work and she steals it from me every night because she doesn't want to walk upstairs to use the desktop
  • Kenrick
Definitely as a secondary computer for me, mostly for business meetings and also for home use (e.g. getting a little work done while waiting for my son at his kung-fu lessons).
  • Andrew Lee
I'd use a netbook like this as a secondary computer. It's very nice, but I'd still use something with a larger screen and much larger hard drive for my primary computer.
  • Grant
obviously I'm going to use this as a secondary pc, but I think this would be a great tool to have when on the road.
  • Kerry
I'd probably use it at school. I'd love to try using such a small computer for my random free time in our local S*bucks.
  • Aldrik Corbe
I will be using this netbook as a secondary computer but in reality it is like my primary since I am always on the go. I need to be connected all the time and sometimes my blackberry can't do everything.
  • I think that the S10 would definitely start out as my secondary computer. However, I've been doing more and more things online and find that I don't need all the horsepower that my Tablet provides. So I think there's a very real possibility that the S10 could become my primary computer.
  • Ben
I'd experiment with it for a little while, but then I'd give it to my girlfriend, since she doesn't have a computer. She'd use it as her primary computer for school and also for internet access and skype.
  • Linda
It would be my secondary computer mostly used for our Plumbing & Heating business as a way to enter our inventory. Since it quite portable it would be great to walk around and punch in numbers.
  • Corinne
It would be my only computer because my current is dying, again. And I just bought it too, luckily I bought a warranty as well.
  • Carlos Lopez
the last year I've been traveling with my tablet pc HPtx2120us, and despite 12" it is heavier than a netbook. I will really thank notebooks.com if i can get this as a price.

I will use this netbook with skype (to comunicate with friends), firefox(to surf and read notebooks.com), microsoft office 2003, voipstunt (to comunicate with my family) and my cisco client for the office communication.

    cheers my friends!!
and keep doing with the great job :)
  • Luis Reyes
I would give it to my daughter and it would definetly be her primary computer.
  • The Lenovo S10 would be used by my wife as her secondary computer, though I can see her using it more than her big laptop as time goes on.
  • gorkon
I would use it as my primary home computer.
  • drrg
Like some other people, this will probably be my wife's primary computer (she's a perfect fit for a netbook). It's a lot easier for her to watch our little (and very mobile) son when she can move around with him, rather than be on a stationary desktop.
  • Steve Larson
I would give this Lenovo IdeaPad to a very deserving friend whose T21 finally died. It would be the primary computer because everything Lenovo makes is fantastic.
  • Gary
It would be a secondary PC, probably used for couch surfing while watching the TV. Or my daughter would abscond with it with an excuse that she needed it at school to perform some assignment while taking a break between classes or attending an after school function.
  • I would use this a second computer, for my students, in my classroom.
  • thoughts13
I would put yahoo widgets to use as a dock. Mozilla sunbird as a calander app, if you don’t know about it check it out, its a good alternative to gcal. I would also put imgburn to burn isos, clone drive to mount those isos. I would also install firstclass, need for school. Of course Firefox, Msn messenger, gtalk, foxit reader for pdfs adobe never works for me, mediamonkey for music management better than itunes I find, Open Office 3 its better than office and its free! Skype for video calls, xchat for irc, and of course google chrome.
I would also put some version of linux on it to play around with. This would be my primary computer, work school play everything!
this is copypasta from gbm, hope that doesn't count against me
  • bj
Hummmm... hard to say. I have a desktop with a 21" monitor that almost never gets turned on, and a 15.4" laptop that is almost always on, but tends to live on a desk. The S10 would either be a secondary notebook for web browsing/book reading or if the keyboard was good enough, replace the laptop. I spend most of my time is "light" apps so certainly don't need the horsepower the laptop has to offer.
  • Christian
It would become my primary computer, because of its portability. My old junker laptop died on me a few months ago so I'm tethered to my desktop now.
  • Anusha
I would replace my old laptop with this one and make it my primary computer. I don't require much more than to browse the web and work with documents and some office work.
  • I would use it with my wife on a trip back to Thailand to see her family and to keep in touch with our 2 boys here.
  • Sai
I would use it as a secondary computer but it is easy to carry around, so I would primarily use it for work that I have to carry around.
  • Adam
my tablet (LE1600) is showing its age these days with reduced battery capacity, and falling apart keyboard. im a dental student, and with a limited budget, i cant justify spending the money on 2 add’l batteries and a keyboard on a 5yr old computer. i’d use it with pdf annotator and sync up with my desktop with sugarsync. (also run windows 7 beta on it)
  • Mike
This would actually become my primary computer. I would take it to school and take all my notes on it. Then my current computer could stay at home hooked up to my monitor as a secondary computer for when I get home.
  • Guest
I'd give it to my significant other to replace her broken primary laptop, which I'd then have time to get fixed. Since the latter unit is a 17" desktop replacement, that would allow us to trade off the two PCs, based on one another's daily travel needs.
  • Tim
I would be giving it to my college student son, who would use it as a secondary computer for note taking in class. He's a gamer, that probably the only reason it would be secondary.
  • Gregory Larsen
This would be a secondary laptop for me but would probably become my wife's school computer pretty quickly...
  • Craig
It would be a second laptop in the house, so probably my wife's couch surfing machine.
  • I’m entering for me and my son (Alex) , and will use the IdeaPad S10 as my secondary computer, We are trying to do a father son company and we would use it to collaborate our ideas.
  • I'm entering for me, and will use the IdeaPad S10 as my secondary computer, it would sure be handy not to be stuck in one room all the time.
  • This would definitely be a secondary computer to supplement my iMac. It would be a writing tool as much as possible. My other hat is as a filmmaker and I'd need a full fledged MacBook for that task. though a White Macbook can be had for less than $950 and even at that price, you get a LOT of power for the money. My worry with the netbook is the screensize.
  • I'd most liekly use it as a secondary computer, as I love using Vista on my desktop at home. However, the S10 is actually more powerful than my aged Dell Inspiron 8000, so I might actually use my desktop much less.
  • A netbook would be used as a secondary computer mainly because at my age eyesight is an issue. that being said, it would be great to have a machine on which I could load my Logos 3 and other tools and comfortably sit on a couch and work rather than hunched over a desk.

The chances of me replacing my old Motion 1400 anytime soon is severely limited with my existing resources.

    Alan Wilkerson
  • Clayton
An ideapad would be a secondary computer for me. I was finally fortunate enough to purchase my first new computer ever and get a nice X61 tablet... If I started feeling too greedy for having two top-quality lenovo laptops, I'd probably give it to my mother or something...
  • tod
What? Why would I give this nifty netbook to anyone except me? Do I look crazy?
