Microsoft Researcher Demos Multi-Touch Notebook Display (video)
If you want a multi-touch display right now you’ve either have to go really big (Microsoft’s Surface) or really small (Apple’s iPhone). But in the future, a new form of multi-touch technology may come to mainstream notebooks.
Microsoft Research Cambridge’s Steve Hodges shows off a notebook he’s retrofitted with infrared sensors. The sensors and some custom software make it possible to manipulate images with your fingers. The sensors can also interact with electronics, such as standard remote control.
Hopefully this technology will make it out of the labs soon.
