Toshiba is offering a âہvoluntary exchangeâ€Â (a euphemism for a recall) for 340,000 notebook batteries, which are manufactured byâ€Â¦.you guessed it Sony. Toshiba has identified a potential charging or discharging issue with certain battery packs sold between March and May of 2006.
The problem causes random shutdowns and loss of unsaved work, but poses no safety risk.
Toshiba’s also created a battery-check utility which you can download here. Thanks for the utility Toshiba, but maybe you should run something like this BEFORE you sell your product.
