Lenovo Edge 13 Review

Lenovo Edge 13 Review

For the past 2 months I’ve been putting the Lenovo Edge 13 Notebook to the test in a tour de force that covered the normal home to office beat as well a roundtrip high intensity trip to CES and back that really tested the power — and the portability– of the 13″ notebook.
The ThinkPad Edge [...]

Rugged Samsung NB30 Netbook Unboxed

Rugged Samsung NB30 Netbook Unboxed

The Samsung NB30 netbook that was revealed at CES 2010 was one of my show favorites. Internally the NB30 has similar spec to the variety of Intel N450 powered netbooks that have come out over the past month, but the NB30 has some really cool features for an on-the-go netbook that make it perfect for [...]

The Definitive Apple iPad Hands On and First Impressions Roundup

After all the hype, after all the showmanship and yes, after the one more thing; all that’s left is to actually use the Apple iPad to see how well the device works. It’s easy to be disappointed and even dismissive of the new gadget that Apple has introduced, but it is Apple and they are [...]

How to change keys on a keyboard

How to change keys on a keyboard

For some reason computer manufacturers are still putting keys in odd locations that either don’t make sense or are just different from what we are used to. As someone who uses a lot of keyboards, a consistent experience is important for staying productive no matter what machine I am using.
Thankfully you can use SharpKeys to [...]

MacBook Pro Complaint: The Gloss Monster

MacBook Pro Complaint: The Gloss Monster

I’ve owned my current MacBook Pro 13″ since July and still have little to complain about.  My previous review provided a nice, general overview of the popular notebook.  In the few short months that I’ve owned my MacBook Pro my only issue thus far would be with the fading keys.
When I say that the keys [...]

Dell Studio 14z Review: What’s Great? What’s Missing?

Dell Studio 14z Review: What’s Great? What’s Missing?

For the last few weeks I’ve had the opportunity to use the Dell Studio 14z laptop while I test out Phoenix Technologies new Laptop location technology service called FailSafe. The Dell Studio 14z is one of the most portable full size Dell laptop’s to hit the market and starts at $699. The Studio 14z ditches the optical drive to cut the weight down to 4.3 pounds and when combined with the slim design makes for an attractive packaged 14″ laptop. You can get the 14z in Black Chainlink, Ruby Red, Midnight Blue, Spring Green and Plum Purple.

Overall the Studio 14z is a good laptop with a few quirks but in the end the extras make up for most of the shortcomings.
