Sony VAIO UX490 Gets 48GB SSD, GPS Receiver
Sony’s upgraded the VAIO UX ultramobile PC, which now includes a 48GB solid state drive and a faster processor. The Sony VAIO UX VGN-UX490N/C comes bundled with a Bluetooth GPS receiver and extra extended battery for $2,499.

Lenovo’s finally giving full details on the ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook, a X61s ThinkPad clad in premium handcrafted leather. The ThinkPad Reserve Edition is available in limited quantities and by invitation only for $5,000. This notebook comes with executive-level service and support.
Toshiba Portege R500 Notebook to Feature 64GB SSD
Toshiba announced the new Portege R500 business notebook will have an optional 64GB solid state drive. Configured with the SSD and no optical drive, the Portege R500 weighs only 1.72 pounds, making it the lightest 12.1-inch widescreen notebook available.
Toshiba Launches Tecra M8 Notebook
Toshiba’s announced the Tecra M8, the company’s first 13.3-inch notebook. The compact widescreen display offers 30% more viewing area than 12.1-inch normal aspect notebooks, while maintaining a compact form factor. The first configuration of the Tecra M8 will be the M8-S8011.
ThinkPad X61 Tablet Specs and Prices Announced
Lenovo’s officially announced specs and pricing info on its ThinkPad X61 tablet. The X61 features Centrino Pro technology and a touch-sensitive 12.1-inch display.
Palm Foleo Mobile Companion Announced
Palm, Inc. announced the Palm Foleo, a device that’s designed to be a companion to Treos and other smartphones. The Palm Foleo has a 10-inch screen and full sized keyboard, but does not have all the functionality of a notebook computer. Palm hopes business people will leave their notebooks at home in favor of a Foleo/Treo combo.
Sony Ultraportable Offers up Solid State/Hard Drive Combo
Sony will be selling a special edition Sony Type T 10th Anniversary notebook with an optional 32GB solid state drive AND a 160GB hard disk drive. This dual-drive solution offers users the speed of SSD and the high capacity of HDD.
Fujitsu Announces FMV-U8240- First UMPC
Fujitsu announced its first ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs) today. Built for for business users, the U Series is the world’s smallest tablet-convertible UMPC, weighing only 580g and measuring 26.5mm thick. The FMV-U8240 features a 5.6″ (1024×600) widescreen display.
