X300 vs. MacBook Air (video)
The MacBook Air designers had to sacrifice a lot of ports and an optical drive so Apple could claim the title of ‘world’s thinnest notebook.’ Lenovo pokes some fun at the MacBook Air in this video and shows that an X300, the thinnest ThinkPad, can fit inside a manila envelope too.

I was pleasantly surprised when FedEx dropped off a big box with a ThinkPad X300 today.It looks better in person than it does online and it feels like a real ThinkPad. It feels solid and has all of the little details ThinkPad users are accustomed to.
Cancelled my MacBook Air Order…
I wrote about ordering a MacBook Air after some encouragement from my wife. A few days ago I canceled the online order and while I’ll miss being one of the first to have the world’s thinnest notebook, I know this is the right decision.
ThinkPad x300 - Full Featured 13.3-inch, 2.5-pound Lenovo Notebook Coming Soon
The MacBook Air’s stirred up some interesting discussion about what’s expected of an ultraportable notebook. Lenovo’s answer is the ThinkPad X300 series, which features a 64GB solid state drive, three USB ports, a DVD burner. Not bad for a 2.5 pound package.
ThinkPad Reserve Now Just $3,000 after $2,000 Price Drop
Apparently there’s not that much demand for Lenovo’s ThinkPad Reserve, the leather-bound X Series ThinkPad with a limited production run of only 5,000 units. Earlier this year the ThinkPad Reserve got a fancy web site and Lenovo promised three years of 24/7 support for the princely sum of $5,000. But if you’re willing to forgo the ‘Executive-class service’ you can pick one up for the bargain basement price of $3,000.
New Compact MacBook Pro Coming in 2008
CNBC is reporting that the much-rumored thin and light MacBook Pro will be announced at Macworld next month. The reporter’s inside source says the compact notebook will be about half as thick as current models and feature a solid state drive. The new Macbook Pros will cost about $1,500.
SSD vs HDD Comparison
Solid Sate Drives have some obvious advantages over Hard Disk Drives. Rob from GottaBeMobile tested a pair of OQO 02 ultramobiles, one with SSD and one with HDD. He Posted a full video of the comparison on his site.
OQO is throwing in a bunch of free accessories with the OQO Model 2. The free accessory bundle is worth $267 and is available through the end of the year.
