Sony Exec Says 2008 Will be a Big Year for Notebook Innovation, but Concerned About ‘Race to the Bottom’
The highlight of my trip out to Vegas for Sony’s Open House was having lunch Mike Abry, Sony’s senior VP of IT products in the U.S. Sony hasn’t rolled out any new notebooks so far this year, but he promised we’d see some real innovation come mid-year. I always enjoy talking to computer execs, but lunch was extra special because Ross Rubin (NPD analyst), Ryan Block (Engadget’s Editor in Chief), Erica Ogg (cnet reporter) and a couple of other techies were there.
Sony VAIO Graphic Splash Expression Collection Notebooks
Sony’s sprucing up its FZ series notebook line with nine new color/pattern combos, which will collectively be badged the VAIO Graphic Splash Expression Collection. Starting at $1,300, only 1,200 Graphic Splash Expression notebooks will be made, which means there will be very few others sporting a pink Victorian lace VAIO like yours.
Sony VAIO CR-Series Valentine Edition Notebook
It’s that time of the year again when most guys have given up on their new years resolution and are about to forget to buy their significant other something romantic for Valentines Day. Best Buy Black Friday: Sony VAIO VGN NR110 for $399
Best Buy will sell the Sony VAIO VGN NR110 E/S notebook for $399 on Black Friday. You’ll have to get in early if you want the $350 discount since there will be as few as 15 VAIO NR110 notebooks at each Best Buy store.

Sony VAIOs Benefit Breast Cancer Research
Sony’s selling a pink notebook, pink Walkman and pink portable DVD player to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sony will donate $75 to the foundation for each pink VAIO VGN-CR290EAP it sells through the end of the month.
Sony VAIO NR - Cheapest Sony Notebook Yet
Sony announced the VAIO NR series notebook for consumers. The VAIO NR series is the cheapest Sony VAIO notebook to date, starting at $750. The 15.4-inch widescreen notebook is available in brown, bright white and granite.
