Apple Sells Over 2 Million Copies of OS X Leopard
Apple announced that it sold more than two million copies of Mac OS X Leopard since its Friday release. Leopard is the sixth major release of Mac OS X and is packed with more than 300 new features.
OSX Leopard…’Better Than Vista’
The Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg reviewed Leopard, Apple’s latest operating system, and says its better than Vista. There are a handful of new features that he finds particularly useful, including Time Machine, an intuitive backup utility that ‘just works.’
Apple OSX Coming October 26
Apple announced that Mac OS X Leopard will go on sale Friday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. Apple says Leopard is packed with more than 300 new features and introduces a brand new desktop with Stacks, a new way to easily access files from the Dock; a redesigned Finder that lets users quickly browse and share files between multiple Macs; Quick Look, a new way to instantly see files without opening an application; Spaces, an intuitive new feature used to create groups of applications and instantly switch between them; and Time Machine, an effortless way to automatically back up everything on a Mac.
Apple Redesigining MacBook Pro Magsafe Adapters
Apple has pulled the 85w Magsafe power adapter from its online and retail stores and is redesigning it to solve a number of problems. The Magsafe power adapter is designed to prevent accidental damage, but many users have reported frayed wires and other problems.
Office 2008 for Mac Prices Announced
Microsoft announced details and pricing for Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. The new suite of office applications will be launched January 15, 2008. There will be three versions of Office for Mac, priced from $149 to $499.
Frustrated MacBook Owner
One MacBook owner went a little nuts because he didn’t like how Apple handled his repair request. He claimed he woke up one morning and his MacBook wouldn’t boot. Instead of paying more than $700 for the repair he decided that smashing his MacBook would send a message to Apple.
Apple Selling 1 in 6 Notebooks at Retail
NPD Group is reporting that Apple’s notebooks are gaining popularity. The analysts said that for the month of June, 17.6% of notebooks sold in the U.S. were MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
