Best Buy will begin selling the eMachines eMD620-5777 notebook for $429 starting November 1st. This price point makes it cheaper than a lot of the netbooks everyone’s getting excited about.

Acer’s dropped the prices of its Aspire One netbook by $50, lowering the starting price to just $329. As the market for netbooks or “companion notebooks” heats up we should see more manufacturers launching sub-$350 computers.
IdeaPad S10 Demo (video)

Lenovo gave me a quick look at the IdeaPad S10 during a meeting in San Francisco yesterday. The IdeaPad S10 is Lenovo’s entry into the ‘netbook’ market and will start at just $399.

GeCube Genie Notebook w/Detachable Keyboard
The GeCube Genie is yet another entry into the lightweight, low-cost notebook. Ge GeCube Genie features a 7-inch display that detaches from the keyboard and still manages to function thanks to a tiny trackpad at the rear of the display. The guts of the computer are housed behind the dispay. Unfortunatly, the GeCube Genie doesn’t have a touchscreen, but it’s tough to argue with its $450 price tag.

Zonbu Notebook fot $279: Cheap and Green
The Zonbu notebook is designed to be energy efficient and low maintainence, thanks to automatic system updates and a paid subscription service. The Zonbu notebook starts at just $279 if you’re willing to commit to a two-year, $14.95 per month subscription fee.
Asus Eee PC: At Least 3.8 Million Sold in 2008?
Cheap notebooks are wildly popular, all you have to do is look at the stir Black Friday notebooks and the OLPO XO Laptop. The ASUS Eee PC is just making its way off the assembly line and Asustek’s CEO is already predicting that his company will out-pace its goal of selling 3.8 million of the $400-ish laptops by the end of next year.
