CES: Intel’s App Up goes live

intel app upHere at the CES Intel keynote, Paul O finally let the app out of the bag with the beta version of the new Intel App Up store.  The store is in beta right now, but here is what is now available for consumers:

  • Developed for developers to create new and adapt old applications to work on netbook platform.
  • Intel App Up store works with Windows and Linux netbooks– Windows 7 and Moblin operating systems
  • Dell and Asus have links to App Up stores.
  • Each vendor can customize the App Up store for their specific netbook devices.
  • Acer, Asus, Dell and Samsung have comitted to having App Up stores for their line of netbooks.
  • Applications already available at the Intel App Up web site.
  • More apps will be ready by the end of the 1st quarter of 2010.

If this is anything like the Apple App Store, or even Android, then Intel App Up will explode with new creativity…giving netbooks a permanent niche in the computing environment.
