Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition Netbook Announced

Dell’s teamed up to offer netbooks that feature Nickelodeon’s slime motif and characters from its popular shows. Based on Dell’s Inspiron Mini 10v netbook, the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition netbook can be personalized with characters from iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants.

This is the first time Dell’s specifically built computers targeted at kids. Dell’s teamed up with Stardock Systems Inc. to build a Nickelodeon-themed desktop and easy access to kid-friendly web portals. The desktop will have a “Just for You” widget that allows kids select their own games and TV programs from Nick.com.

While some kids will love the look and feel of these netbooks, parents will love the easy to use parental controls. Parents can limit web access to specific sites and change limitations as needed. For added security, the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition comes with Lo-Jack for Laptops and a 15-month subscription to McAfee Family Security.

Pricing hasn’t been announced quite yet, but they will be available in October, just in time for the holiday season. Customers will be able to buy Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition netbooks directly from Dell and Wal-mart.

Pricing has not been announced. These photos are an example of the appearance. Dell's netbooks and notebooks are typically available in a wide range of colors, but I'm not sure about the exact specs of this one.

I really do not like Dell and/or their service department. Do you know if HP has similair aspirations?

They dont have other colors and its 327 Dollars its more for kids but hp dosent have a similer thing dell just teamed up with nickelodeon

Just picked one up the other day. I've got a couple of specific uses for it. But, the portable connectivity, the nice keyboard, able to boot from USB port, and tiny size makes it perfect for what I wanted it for.

I've had GREAT luck with Dell in the past. I hope this mini lasts as long as my old Win98 Dell Inspiron... It STILL works perfectly!!

my son got one of thesefor christmas in 09... we are on our second one and on our way to the store to return it. First one just one day shut off and we could not get it to stay on after that. just got the second one and there is a fuzzyness all across the btm bar when u r trying 2 get into things you can read thru the fuzzyness... the monitor acts like it is going 2 sleep, but wont wake back up, u have 2 power down with the power btn and restart it.. on both the mouse did not work smoothly.. it would stop moving and u had 2 tilt the laptop to get it 2 move again... JUNK
