Lame!! It looks like this model comes with Windows instead of Linux -- and it has been delayed so it isn't even close to being the first Ion notebook.

SORRY. Glossy screen. No sale. I just don't get it. These are made to be portable, on-the-go devices to boot up and connect and use in various environments, often outside or near stray sunlight and electric lights which reflect on/off the screen. Am I the only one astounded at the seeming illogic of outfitting these netbooks with (only the option of) a glossy screen?
I'm in the market and plan to buy this year, ASAP. I have been diligently studying all of the brands of netbooks that are out and coming out, and I have awaited this S12 with improved graphics I have to say: NIX on this one- unless it has a matte option.

Thanks for the clarifications. I hope the earlier reports about the weight were correct (i.e. that it is lighter is better!)

This sounds like an exciting new netbook/notebook. Though I'm a little disappointed that they couldn't figure out how to make a flush-fitting 6-cell battery, especially when other manufacturers have managed it within a 10" form-factor. I guess you have to make compromises at this price point.

The IdeaPad S12 I saw was a pre-production unit from China.
The six cell will bump out, probably about 1/2-3/4 of an inch. I haven't seen one yet.
I got the S12 3.7 pound weight off of a Lenovo PowerPoint presentation. The weight manufacturers provide are typically the lightest possible configuration, which is probably the 3-cell. I'm sure this will be clarified once they begin selling/shipping.

The version you showed had a flush-fitting 3-cell battery. But you said only a 6-cell will be available in the U.S.

Question: What is the form-factor of the 6-cell? Will it stick out much?

Question 2: Earlier reports had this system pegged at 3.4 pounds with the 6-cell battery. You are telling us 3.7 pounds. Which figure is correct? Are you quoting the weight with the AC adapter maybe?
