Not so much. The GTX 280M is based on the G92 core, the same one in the 9800M GTX. More shaders, faster clocks, and a new manufacturing process, but still a 9 Series in all but name. As Rene mentions, there are plenty of affordable products on the horizon in the netbook/notebook market, including ION.
