Toshiba Notebooks Get Face Recognition
Toshiba just sent me an email pointing out that its latest Satellite notebooks feature Face Recognition. This means users can automatically login just by sitting in front of their notebooks.
The Satellite U400, Satellite M300, Satellite A300 and Satellite P300 are equiped with integrated Webcams. During a short setup process, users tilt their heads up and down and side to side so their notebooks can take and store several photos.
When the login screen appears, the Webcam attempts to match the stored photos to the person sitting in front of the notebook. If it finds a match you’re automatically logged in, with no need to type in your password.
Lenovo has a similar system it calls VeriFace. Here’s a demo of VeriFace. I assume Toshiba’s system is just as easy to setup and use.
