Exploding MacBook Pro

MacBook Pro Explosion Fire FlameAn Apple MacBook Pro user was reading one of his favorite web sites when he heard a loud popping noise, followed by sparks and flames shooting out of the back of the computer.

The exploding MacBook Pro torched the owner’s desk and caused some minor burns on his hands when he extinguished the flames. The owner called Apple Europe and after speaking to several people he was told Apple would replace his MacBook Pro with a new one.

There’s no word on the exact cause of the problem, but there’s no ‘good’ reason for this to happen on a computer that’s been in use for less than a year. Unlike previous exploding laptops, there’s no sign of battery malfunction on this particular MacBook Pro.

Just before I heard about this post I was complaining to a friend that my MacBook Pro hit 81-degrees Celcius while exporting a video in iMovie ‘08. Guess I don’t have that much to complain about…
