Unlocked iPhones Go on Sale in Germany for $1,473
Some Germans are paying a 600 euro premium to unlock their iPhones the legal way. iPhones go for 399 euros in Germany, bringing the total bill for an unlocked phone to 999 euros ($1,473).
Those who pay the premium have their iPhone’s IMEI recorded and sent to Apple. After the IMEI is recorded by Apple, the $1,473 iPhones can be unlocked by syncing it with iTunes.
Unlocked iPhones were being sold as of November 21 after a temporary injunction was enforced against T-mobile.
