AMD Focused on Differentiating
Bahr Mahony, director of AMD’s mobile division talks about its open-platform approach and plans for notebooks in 2007. AMD will launch an initiative with its partners to attempt to differentiate the differences of AMD’s products from Intel’s. A new cobranded logo will be used on notebooks in 2007. For example, a Fujitsu notebook he showed us has a sticker on the palm rest with an AMD 64X2 logo, ATI Graphics and Atheros logo stacked in a chevron pattern. Mahony says AMD’s OEMs will be able to take advantage of superior graphics engines and superior wireless solutions to bring the end users a better overall experience.
