Best Buy -Toshiba L35 for $249 on Black Friday

Toshiba L35

Best Buy will sell a Toshiba L35 15.4-inch widescreen notebook for $249 on Black Friday from 5am to Noon. The L35-s2151 comes with an Intel Celeron M 420 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 60GB hard drive, DVD-ROM/CDRW,
The deal is only being advertised online and is not included in the newspaper ads for the post-Thanksgiving shopping bonanza. The notebook is available in-store only for $249 on Black Friday, which is a huge discount since it’s normally $600.
Amazing deal if you’re on a budget. As with all sub-$400 notebooks we’ve seen so far, the L35-s2151 has a shared video card and is not a good choice if you’re into serious gaming. This machine should be fine for Internet, Office and basic photo applications. It does not come with a FireWire port for video editing.

What’s the difference between the L35-S2171 at Office Depot (299) and the L35-S2151 at Best Buy (249) I’ve found the 80GB hard drive vs 60Gb hard drive, but I’m wondering if there are any other differences?

Mike, these notebooks are virtually identical. I believe the hard drives are the only differences.

Do either of you know if Office Depot plans to give a Free Vista upgrade with their $299 deal? Best Buy is very clear with their $249 deal that they WILL. Office Depot’s website is not and no one in their customer service/tech support doesn’t appear to know.

What really bugs me about these Toshiba Models is that there is nothing listed for them on Toshiba’s support site (both U.S. and U.K.).

Nothing on their product pages about them either.

The closest I could find is a single L30 with Intel 410 on the UK site (which apparently isn’t available in the U.S.).

Something weird not being disclosed about this model and is more than likely why it’s “cheap”.

Getting all these hits from the mainstream media that bestbuy did not have the inventory to back up their blakFriday ads.

Y’all hearing anything like this?

I’d assumed it was just disappointed folks, grumbling ’cause they didn’t get what they came for–but I keep hearing it.

I went for this notebook–but they were “ticketed out” when I got there.

There were kids camped out overnite in sleeping bags and tents, so I just assumed they were there first thing when the doors opened and nabbed the few lappys available.

If I were fourteen again and with xmas money, I’d have been camped out with them–but as it is, no regrets.

Kinda partial to dell, myself. Looking at the 1504/5 Inspirons, specifically.

Best,
z
