Compaq Notebook for $398

CompaqPressarioIf you’re looking for a bargain basement notebook, Wal-Mart is selling a Compaq notebook for $398. The AMD Sempron powered notebook is pretty basic, but what do you want for less than $400? The 15.4 inch widescreen Compaq Presario V5305WM will be available exclusively from the retailer and the price is only good from Nov. 5 to 10. Compaq’s site says it’s Vista ready, comes with a DVD/CD-RW, 60GB hard drive, 512MB of memory and 802.11 b/g WiFi. This is a great deal if these specs meet your needs, but will probably go very quickly.

Compaq Presario V3000: Notebook for $399 at notebooks.com

November 6th at 3:11pm

[...] We’ve found an awesome deal for bargain hunters from HP.com. The Compaq Presario V3000 normally starts at $699, but after a$180 discount, $100 rebate and free memory upgrade, it’s only $399. Again, don’t expect a powerhouse for under $400, but you do get a 1.8 Ghz AMD Sempron processor, 512 MB of memory (after free upgrade), a 14.1-inch widescreen display, and DVD/CD-RW drive and WiFi. For all of you who missed out on the Wal-Mart deal (Compaq Presario v5305wm for $398), this one’s for you. Similar specs, but the Compaq v3000 has a slightly smaller screen and is much more compact. The V3000 is also a current model, while the v5000 is being phased out. The Presario V3000 is one of the cheapest notebooks you can buy online as of now. No need to wait in line or fight the crowds on Black Friday. Just head over to the v3000 product page at hp.com and select “Customize.” Leave all the specs alone, except for memory. Check the 512MB free upgrade option and you’re all set. [...]

HP dv6108nr Notebook for $379 at Best Buy at notebooks.com

November 8th at 1:04am

[...] Best Buy will sell the HP dv6108nr media center notebook for $379 as its notebook special to kick off the holiday shopping season. The dv6109nr is a configuration of the popular 15.4-inch HP dv6000t widescreen. The dv6109nr runs on an Intel Core Solo T1350 (1.8 GHz) and comes with a DVD burner, 1 GB of RAM, WiFi, 80GB hard drive and HP’s Quick Play technology to instantly access your media files without booting up Windows. A remote control and earphones are also included to round out the multimedia experience. Lacking a dedicated graphics card, dv6109nr isn’t fast enough to handle hardcore graphics and gaming. The dv6108nr normally sells for $749.99, so the discount almost chops the price in half. There are tons of deals popping up for the holidays, but the dv6109nr is our favorite pick so far. While there are a few other sub-$400 notebooks hitting the market (Compaq wm5305v and Compaq v3000), the dv610nr is the only one with a DVD burner and full 1GB of memory. The dv6108nr is also the most stylish, with HP’s signature high-gloss black and wave design finish. If you’re buying a budget notebook as a gift, this is the winner as there’s nothing cheap about it except for the price. If you want one, you’ll have to wake up early from your Thanksgiving day food coma since the price is only good from 5am to noon. [...]

Compaq Presario Notebook for $99 or $299 at Circuit City at notebooks.com

November 9th at 9:24pm

[...] After taking a closer look at the Circuit City Black Friday ad, here’s the lowdown. The retailer will be selling the Compaq Presario C303NR for $299, not the C306NR as we mentioned earlier. Only difference is this model only has a 60GB hard drive. Now for the good news. If you’re willing to sign up for Vonage VOIP telephone service you can have the Compaq C306NR for $99 after a $280 discount and $100 rebate. The 15.4-inch widescreen C303NR  comes with 512MB of memory, DVD/CD burner and Intel Celeron M420 1.6GHz processor. This notebook is very similar to the Compaq v5305wm which Wal-Mart sold for $398. This line is being discontinued and is not the fastest thing in the world. But if you’re on a tight budget and need something for school or home, this is the cheapest notebook out there. I wouldn’t recommend signing up for Vonage just to get the $99 deal, but if you were thinking about switching your landline over to VOIP go for it. Let us know if any of you score one of these. Yes, I scored one…and I didn’t even have to wait in line! Here’s what happened (grab a coffee, it’s a long story)! On BF I waited at Staples loonnggg line (with a Thanksgiving hangover no less!). No luck! Since then I’ve been hoping for a similar deal before Christmas..no great deals to be found anywhere that didn’t involve camping out! Last week I started calling around EVERYWHERE because I needed a computer for my daughter and had my budget set at $400! I called WalMart last night, their cheapest computer was $549 and had all bad reviews. This morning I called back again to see what the next step up was. The salesguy told me they had a BF layaway Compaq that was never picked up and just put back on the floor. He held it for me (against store rules) and I flew down there and picked it up. Problem solved!
PS: I thought it must be my lucky day, so I played a $10 scratch ticket ~ but not before my luck ran out!
