Dell Notebooks Coming to A Mall Near Youâ€Â¦Sort Of
Dell will open two retail stores later this year that will hopefully be more successful than Gateway’s retail failure. This news comes as Apple’s about to open its 24-hour computer mecca in NYC. There will be two major differences between the i-everything and the PC version- you won’t actually be able to buy a computer at the store, and Dell has yet to plan a Genius-Bar-esque service center. Instead, there will be lots of computers where you can order your computer.
I can respect Dell’s intentions of staying true to its direct approach, but the company should also respect the fact that customers have different needs. Why not stock a few units for shoppers in a hurry? No stock will mean no crowds checking out the new products.
The first will open at NorthPark Center in Dallas, Texas followed by a second store Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York.
