The Next Generation of Computers
It’s ads like these that remind me of my first computer that my dad bought us when we were kids. I never used that Commodore 64 for much except playing video games and printing out reallly long banners with my dot matrix. I miss the simplicity of when computer repair meant buying a new fan from the hardware store and mounting it on top of my 5″ floppy with duct tape.
There’s a small collection of vintage computer ads over at cnet. My favorite is Citibank’s 1984 ad that reads “Turn Your Home Computer Into a Banking Command Center.” I wonder how reliable that system was, considering I couldn’t log in to my online bank account last week for more than 4 hours!
